Letters will only look 3D if you give them a shadow, and in order to cast a shadow, the letters need to be thick. So, start by drawing out a short phrase using thick letters. Remember that it takes some time to draw 3D letters. My garden is overrun with it.

To get started with your shadow, use a pencil to lightly draw several diagonal, parallel lines over your phrase. As such, shadows will appear to the lower right of the letters.

To start drawing your shadows, begin with the lower left corner of your first letter. Line up your ruler with that corner such that the ruler is parallel to the slant lines you drew before. Your letter should look something like this:. The connections that you draw should run parallel to the edges of the original letter.

Just remember that all shadow guidelines appear behind the letters. The best place to extend the shadow down is the upper right corner of the letter, where the letter starts to make a sharp descent.

You can draw another line at the lower left corner, where the letter has finished its descent. Then, connect those two lines. At this point, you can opt to fill in the shadows with the color of your choice. Then, wait for the ink to dry preferably a few hours, depending on your local climateand erase any pencil lines. However, since I can never leave well enough alone, I encourage you to consider adding a background that complements your message! The leaves help the text to stand out even more!

You can add any pattern for a background as long as you draw it in a fairly light-colored ink.

Well, we're looking for good writers who want to spread the word. Get in touch with us and we'll talk To begin with, simply draw a letter as you would normally draw in 2D on a paper using a pencil, so that it can be erased later.

Do not use a pen. Use a ruler to make the lines straight. Keep the size of the letter a little less than required because the 3D outline will come around it.

This is a crucial step. Draw a double outline around the letter, at each side, at equal distances from the letter. The letters like A, B, O, etc. So, also draw an outline for them on the inside.

For this, fix a point and choose an angle. Draw rays emanating from the point to the block letters, towards each corner and edge. Considering the vantage point as the source of light, add a shadow to the letter by shading it in a dark color preferably gray. You can now finalize the letters by coloring them with a pen or crayon.
